Where will the videos be posted?
There is an upcoming but currently not-yet-launched Youtube channel that will be called @RollerCoastinUSA . It’s not yet launched with videos but you can subscribe now to see them as soon as their available at this link. Shorter clips may also be added to Instagram and Tiktok in the future.
Do you have another YouTube channel?
I was the top Youtube channel for Ingress, Niantic’s previous game before Pokemon Go. They hired me as their lead live esports broadcaster for their previous game, Ingress, because of the channel’s success. That channel no longer has new videos being posted to it, but feel free to check out my old “Ingression” series if you like real world adventure games like Pokemon Go.
Will I be in your video?
Although US law says filming in public is allowed due to courts saying there is no legal reasonable right to privacy in public. We value your privacy more and want to respect it. The best attempt reasonably possible will be made to blur faces of anyone near the camera whenever possible. We’re focused on filming amusement park rides, not people.
Since we want people watching the videos to feel like they are on the ride and not to be reminded that they are actually looking at what a camera captured. Shouting, staring, or waving at the camera will actually make it less likely that even blurred audio/video of you would be used.
What if i want to be in your video?
If a video isn’t finished editing we may be able to unblur your face if you sign a the release/consent linked here and submit a photo of yourself including the day and the ride you were on so we know who to show.
If you are under 18 then your parent will need to sign the release on your behalf with proof of age. If anyone submitting a release appears to be under 18 we WILL request a copy of your ID to verify that you are old enough to sign the release. So if you are under 18 please don’t submit a release as it won’t be accepted without parental permission.
How can I film my own rollercoaster videos?
We plan to make behind the scenes videos (or full channel) to show how we get the best footage possible with just action cameras. In the mean time PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO FILM ROLLER COASTERS WITH YOUR PHONE!.
Filming with your phone can be truly dangerous and end up hurting yourself and other riders. You may end up losing your phone and ALL parks will possibly kick you out or even permanently ban you for trying to film with your phone. And the footage you get will be a pretty shaky mess.
Even if you do manage to capture footage with your phone without it flying out of your hands or getting kicked out of your park, if the footage goes viral, you could still be banned from the park in the future. FILMING WITH YOUR PHONE IS JUST NOT WORTH IT.
Not all parks allow filming so make sure to check with the parks website or customer service email before going to make sure you can film and not get kicked out. If you are filming at a park that allows it, we use the Stuntman brand chest mounts that are available for action cameras (and phones) that will securely hold a camera even on intense and shaky rollercoaster rides.
When will the video be up?
Our goal is to capture not just A ride, but the perfect ride. And then make it even more perfect with tons of fancy editing through Davinci Resolve (Available for free) and AI programs Like Topaz Video AI (available for $400). That means we don’t use most of the videos captured and the ones we do use take 80-150 hours of processing to make them look perfect.
So the ride you were on might not be used, and if it is, it’ll still be quite a while till we turn the footage from great to jaw dropping.
The best way to know when a new video is released is to pre-subscribe to the channel and enable the notification bell for when new videos are posted. The current goal is to have the first videos out in 2024 with even more amazing experiences coming in 2025.
